I just installed hello pro 3 in addition to genesis. It seems like all of the front page widget areas are missing. Demo data does not work either. What could be the problem?

Thanks for using Hello! Pro 3! It looks like it was just released on StudioPress today 🙂
Hello! Pro 3 was designed to use the new Gutenberg page editor, so there’s no need for Homepage Widgets like in the past. If you check out the latest version of the “Genesis Sample” theme, you’ll see it also works this way. It was a major influence on the redesign of our Hello! Pro theme.
First, ensure the Hello! Pro 3 theme is not activated. Then once Genesis 2.9+ is installed, activate Hello! Pro 3, and you should be forwarded to an “on-boarding” page where you have the option to have the theme automatically setup your website. We recommend going this route if you’re not familiar with using Gutenberg.
If you choose the automatic install, the theme will create the following demo pages for you:
- About Me
- Landing Page Example
- Gutenberg Block Examples
- Contact Me
The theme will also automatically setup a new navigation menu for you, and will add it to the header navigation area.
Once these pages are created, you can go into them and customize the content as you wish, with a majority of the page layout already in place for you!
Please see the following Theme Setup guide for more detailed instructions:
— we’ll be updating this guide as soon as possible to mention the extra pages and navigation menu which get automatically added.
Please let us know if you have any problems performing the auto-install.
We hope you enjoy using Hello! Pro 3!

okay thanks, this clarifies the issue. After trying it for a while I decided to install hello! pro 2 to proceed with my project. Are there any drawbacks with this approach?
About hello! pro 3:
Auto installer did not work as you described and this gutenberg update definitely needs documentation. It was not clear at all how could I install hp3 on my own. And I did not find the hp3 documentation on your site.
I had genesis ready when I installed hp3 theme, BUT it was an older version of genesis package (maybe 2.8). So this could be the issue, auto installed did not work on older genesis versions. So your documentation should clarify this: “make sure you have up to date genesis theme ready before installing hp3”.
But anyway, thanks for the quick reply – I have no further questions and I’ll try the gutenberg installer later.
